Advent is honored to present KENSO's Guide To Making Progressive Rock Music, the group's first instructional/biographical double-DVD set! This Japan-only release features over 3.5 hours (including bonus material) of performance, discussion, and analysis that is primarily focused on the topic of how KENSO approaches the creation of their unique brand of progressive-rock music—complete with full English subtitles. While a minimal understanding of music theory (particularly time signatures) may be helpful in a few spots, the majority of the content should be just as valuable and entertaining to the prog fan that is a complete layman in this regard. Many sections of classic KENSO tunes are performed—in both live and studio environments—often with detailed breakdowns of what is most relevant from an instructional/structural standpoint. However, the educational content also strays into other areas as varied as philosophy and instrument/sound selection. There is also a segment in which Yoshihisa Shimizu and Kenichi Oguchi review progressive rock as an entity and share their thoughts on many of the genre's classic albums (from the '70s).
