KENSO – KENSO's Guide To Making Progressive Rock Music
(double DVD)
Advent is honored to present KENSO's Guide To Making Progressive Rock Music, the group's first instructional/biographical double-DVD set! This Japan-only release features over 3.5 hours (including bonus material) of performance, discussion, and analysis that is primarily focused on the topic of how KENSO approaches the creation of their unique brand of progressive-rock music—complete with full English subtitles. While a minimal understanding of music theory (particularly time signatures) may be helpful in a few spots, the majority of the content should be just as valuable and entertaining to the prog fan that is a complete layman in this regard. Many sections of classic KENSO tunes are performed—in both live and studio environments—often with detailed breakdowns of what is most relevant from an instructional/structural standpoint. However, the educational content also strays into other areas as varied as philosophy and instrument/sound selection. There is also a segment in which Yoshihisa Shimizu and Kenichi Oguchi review progressive rock as an entity and share their thoughts on many of the genre's classic albums (from the '70s). Additional details:
The cost is $66 plus shipping/handling. (Please note that this is roughly equivalent to the official Japanese selling price of 6,000 yen.)

Advent is proud to be able to offer KENSO's astounding Live in USA DVD! Released exclusively in Japan, this DVD features the band's ground-breaking NEARfest (2005) performance in its entirety. Additional details of this professionally recorded special-edition package:
Due to the nature of the custom packaging, limited pressing quantity, and the relatively high expense of production (in Japan), the cost is $83 plus shipping/handling. (Please note that this is roughly equivalent to the official Japanese selling price of 7,500 yen.)

KENSO – SPARTA Naked
(CD)
Imported from Japan, this is a completely new production of KENSO's 1989 classic, based on the original multitrack recordings but entirely remixed and remastered by Kenichi Mitsuda, with the primary goal of capturing all the beauty of the music in its most natural and organic form—while replacing the washed-out 1980-era production "sheen" of the original with amazing clarity, brilliance, and warmth. Also includes a stunningly beautiful solo piano rendition of "BIFUKA" (by Kenichi Mitsuda) and a live performance of "Good Days, Bad Days" from 2008 as bonus tracks. Highly recommended—especially for fans of the original album. Due to the time and expense incurred in meticulously creating what is essentially equivalent to a brand new album (keeping in mind the costs associated with doing so in Japan), the price is $39 plus shipping/handling. (Please note that this is roughly equivalent to the official Japanese selling price of 3,500 yen.)
